Are you gearing up for Oxford University admissions? Here are some important updates that you need to keep a tap on.
Oxford has teamed up with Pearson VUE, a global assessment leader, to handle the delivery of their undergraduate admissions tests. If you’ve heard of the LNAT (Law National Admissions Test), then you already know a bit about Pearson VUE—they’ve been managing the LNAT for years. Now, they’re stepping in to assist with a wider range of Oxford’s admissions tests.
Why Admissions Tests Matter
Admissions tests play a crucial role in Oxford’s selection process. Alongside other application materials, these tests help the university assess your academic potential and determine if you’re the right fit for their courses.
What’s New in 2024?
All admissions tests will now be conducted online. Pearson VUE will deliver these tests through their well-established network of test centers. And here’s the best part: there will be no charge for candidates to register for Oxford’s own tests in 2024!

How to Prepare
Oxford offers plenty of guidance to help you get ready. Check out the individual test pages for detailed preparation advice. Many tests come with an online practice test to help you get comfortable with the format and the new test platform. For the new tests this year, there will be shorter sample tests available to get you started.
Special Notes for 2024 Applicants
- Medicine and Graduate Entry Medicine: Instead of the BMAT, Oxford will use the Pearson VUE UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) with the usual arrangements and charges as advertised by Pearson VUE.
- Law Candidates: Continue taking the Pearson VUE LNAT with the standard arrangements and charges.
- English Literature: In 2024, there will be no English Literature test for those applying for English Language and Literature, English and History, English and Modern Languages, or Classics and English. Make sure to check the specific course page for application details. For joint schools, you’ll still need to take the relevant test for the other subject.
- Geography: There will be no test for Geography candidates in 2024.
