Ryan achieved a first class degree in International Relations and Russian at the University of Leeds after a 6 year career as a Royal Marines Commando. During his time in the military, Ryan specialised as a Middle Eastern Cultural Specialist, advising and teaching on Arabic culture, customs and traditions.
After this, he tutored in Ukraine and Latvia for 3 years including on summer activity camps, in private schools, with individual clients, disabled children and as a live-in residential teacher. As a teacher, Ryan specialised in teaching English as a second language, however he also taught politics, history and science subjects.
Ryan now dedicates his time to helping students of all abilities with their university applications. Having experienced social care, fostering and adoption himself, he is especially determined to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds to get into higher education. He founded Briggate Educational Consultants in order to unite a team of hard working experts who all work together to give all children the best possible chance of being accepted into university.
He is fluent in Russian and Arabic and in his spare time enjoys playing team sports, outdoor activities, reading and chess.
Dan holds an MSt in Renaissance Literature from the University of Oxford, where he also took his BA in English.
On his way he received an MSt offer from St John's, Cambridge, and several other top UK institutions. As an undergraduate at Oxford he held senior positions at the university's most prestigious arts publication, and edited for an international climate journal. Dan has won several prizes for his academic work, including the Elton Davies scholarship for achievement. He is currently an academic researcher at the University of Cambridge, working towards his PhD.
As an Oxbridge consultant for Briggate Educational Consultants, he uses his academic excellence and writing flair to advise on UCAS applications, focusing on personal statements, academic writing and research proposals.
In his spare time Dan enjoys creative writing, photography and film.
